Artistic flavour

I visited the Tate Modern again today during the lunch hour with an office colleague. We had gone to see the paintings of Mark Rothko. I had never heard of him nor seen any of his paintings till today. I must say it was an amazing experience to sit inside the Rothko room and be surrounded by his art.

"Perceived, as the artist intended, in reduced light and in a compact space, the subtlety of the layered surfaces slowly emerges, revealing their solemn and meditative character." (written outside the Rothko(room 3))

We saw a couple more paintings and I came across this another painter whose art I had not seen earlier - Jackson Pollock. I liked the ones that were displayed. They were colourful and very uplifting.

On display were many more great paintings. My favourite Monet was right in the middle and looked so beautiful. There were a couple of Pablo Picasso's art too.

I also happened to see the sculptor Alberto Giacometti's works. Four Figurines on a Base is on display at Tate Modern.

All in all it was a very interesting hour as I got a chance to see abstract art (a form of art which I very recently started appreciating) up close and personal.

Though I understand or have seen abstract art very less, I do admire the mix and flow of colors. Very lively and tries to speak on it own. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, Sutapa this was my first time also and will agree with you there- they do speak their own language and convey so much.
