Trina, thanks for sharing and summarizing your experience in the conference. I feel an ID is someone who binds a elearning project start to end. SME or a designer cannot replace the position of an ID in any project even in the world of rapid elearning. It may happen that an ID has to put on a designer's shoe in rapid elearning by creating content in the tools but an ID's position is always secure.

I definitely agree with you and honestly was surprised to find the ID role being referred as 'not important' by a few people during their sessions.
